Agricultural University
One of the best institutions of its kind in South Asia, the Agricultural University was originally established as an Agricultural Farm in Saidapet, Chennai. The location was moved to Coimbatore in 1907 and the name was changed to Agricultural College which later, came to be known as the Agricultural University. It is 5kms away from the railway station.

Aazhiyaar Dam
The Aazhiyaar dam is 24 km away from Pollachi in Coimbatore district. The Aazhiyaar dam was built during the period 1959 to 1969 across the river Aazhiyaar. The ultimate objective of constructing this dam is for irrigation. The dam comprises several dams getting interlinked by tunnels and canals for restraining Aliyar, Sholiysr, Nirar, Phunakadavu, Parambikulam, Thekkadi and Palar rivers, confining at diverse altitudes for the purpose of generating electricity and irrigation. The Aazhiyaar dam is an excellent illustration for engineering masterwork. The dam is 81 meter height from the deep ground and this dam is far-famed picnic spot.

Amaravathy Dam

Black Thunder

Coonoor
Coonoor is located 19kms away from Udhagamandalam and is on the way to Coimbatore. It stands on a lower ridge of the plateau at an altitude of 1,858 meters (6,100 feet) and is the second – largest hill station in the Nilgiris.

Kovai Kondattam - Water Theme Park
Located at Perur in Siruvani Main Road, the park is an ideal fun packed leisure option for the entire family. Spread over a generous area, this park offers many themed attractions like Aqua dance, wave pool, dashing cars, rock climbing, Hara-kiri and video parlour to name a few, An amphi theatre specially designed to house live performance of both local and international standards is available for family and party events.

Kovai Kutralam
Kovai kutralam is water fall at Siruvani. It is 37kms from Coimbatore and is quite magnificent. This fall is amidst a thick forest, hence visitors are not allowed after 5 pm. Siruvani is the source of drinking water supply to Coimbatore.

Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary
The Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Nilgiri Hills, at a point where the western ghats meet the eastern ghats. This sanctuary has a mix of flat land, undulating parkland, open grassland, swamp valleys and nullahs. The Mayyar river forms a series of spectacular cascades on its 65kms route on the Udhagamandalam - Mysore highway. This sanctuary can be reached from Mysore too.

Maharaja Water Theme Park
The Maharaja Theme Park & Resorts is situated on the Coimbatore-Salem National Highway close to the Neelambur bye-pass, 12kms from Coimbatore city. This theme park is an attempt to replicate the most attractive features of the theme parks without losing sight of the fact to provide an affordable entertainment. Apart from the entertainment rides, they also have 2 multiplex theatres , a mini golf course & an auditorium. People from various places visit this theme as it hosts entertainment for the whole family. It is also easily accessible & provides excellent entertainment & relaxation for one & all.

Ooty
Ooty or Udhagamandalam as it is now officially known, was founded by the British in the mid 19the century. Located at an altitude of 2,240 meters above sea level, Udhagamandalam has salubrious weather all around the year. It’s no wonder that thousands of tourists flock here, year after year. Udhagamandalam has plenty to offer by way of natural charms, lushly laid-our gardens, natural waterfalls, mountain and valley views-you’ll never run out of choice!

Sozhiyaar Dam
The Sozhaiyaar dam which could also be spelled as Solaiyaar is few miles away from Coimbatore city. The Sozhaiyaar dam stands as a building monument and it grabs the attention of large number of tourists. The dam is quite familiar and it is known for its magnificence. People taking a trip to Coimbatore from surrounding areas will surely make their visit to Sozhaiyaar dam. The Sozhaiyaar is also one of the water source providers to Coimbatore city.

Valparai
Valparai is one of the attractive scenic tourist spots in Tamil Nadu. It is located 3,500 feet above the sea level on the Anamalai mountain range. It is a town located on the western ghats, 105km away from Coimbatore. In Valparai, there are several tea and coffee estates, dams, water falls and 15 tea factories. Valparai totally gives us a wonderful natural scenery, which stands majestically with forest all around. Sholayar Dam in Valparai is a fantastic dam to watch. Other important places to visit around Valparai are Balaji temple, Pancha Mugha Vinayagar Koil and the tea estates.

V.O.C Park
Named after the freedom fighter V.O Chidambaram, this park is maintained by the Corporation. There is a mini-zoo and joy train in the park. Very recently to remind of the animals which lived in the past, Dinosaur park has been created. This park has all animals which lived several hundred years ago. Every evening there is a colourful water fountain show. Children flock to this park to enjoy sight seeing.
